kind words others have left behind:
The "Shi Ying Xiong, Zhong Ying Xiong" Corner
Where great minds connect, and worlds move... greatminds@han Oct 2000
"It was a dark, stormy night.
Strong winds were howling, the thunder was deafening and the lightning felt like a short circuit light bulb, going on and off. The elements were having a great time partying together. It was a scene right out of the movie "The Perfect Storm", with waves rising high up to the sky. Mother Nature is really pissed-off this time on a pitched-black, starless, cold rainy night.
There seemed to be a little spark of light in the distance. Guess it's just a reflection from the lightning.
Alone in my flooded little canoe, far from shore and the mother ship, waves were slamming my face, swinging me left-right-center and upside down. Funny as it may seem, it was more like paddling a mini-submarine because my canoe is submerged under water!
The built-in buoyancy is the only thing keeping me from going down. Water was everywhere, mineral water from the sky, salt water from the sea and even my perspiration, but not a single drop to drink.
It was man against nature, a contradiction because we are part of nature. Paddling furiously against the tide, action was the only thing I could do to know that I am still alive. If I don't, hypothermia will set in and I will be history. I was hoping against hope and racing against time. Trying hard to control my uncontrollable fatigue, I was strong in spirit and even stronger in mind, but my limbs had reached their limits long ago.
The light is still there. But how can it be ? Maybe I am losing my mind...
It's often said that the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. This is the time to prove old maxims wrong. Or I will be just another name on the hall of fame, or rather more like the hall of the vanquished. You either live, or you do not. You would rather talk about it yourself, than for others to fantasize about how great you had been.
Back to the helpless situation against a pissed-off Mother Nature, I began to philosophize. Maybe the good book was right in saying that there is a time for everything under heaven, and this is the moment of destiny for me. Though the eventual end is inevitable, I shall not go quietly into the night without a fight. There is just so much left that is undone.
The light is still there. It is getting brighter. It is getting clearer. It is not just a light. It is a beacon. Which means there is land. And the rest, like the common cliche, is history..."
Dramatic were the circumstances that Hang Boon and I met.
I was then a newly published author, and I was thrown into the deep end of a 300,000 high traffic exhibition to promote my book. But my "mother ship" was nowhere near and I didn't have a clue on how to proceed. By a stroke of luck (ie. preparation meeting opportunity), I connected with Hang Boon through the World Wide Web. Like Goethe said,
"Whatever you can do, or dream you can do,
Begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it"
It was a tremendous learning experience. We discussed, debated and tried everything in the book, including many that were not. At the end of the day, it was back to the keyboard to see what works and what did not. Then we formulated new strategies and tried again the next day. It was a 3-day exhibition but we worked around the clock across borders, and it was like working 6 full days in a 3-day exhibition. Lady Luck was obviously pleased with these 2 earnest and hardworking guys. We got free press coverage, we got free word-of-mouth publicity and we got incredible mileage for next to nothing ! That is the POWER of great minds connecting.
Until today, I have not spoken to Hang Boon or met him in person. But that doesn't really matter. Great minds think in higher frequencies. Great minds connect across time and space, without conventional communication tools. Like the North Star in a pitched-black night, Hang Boon provided support and ideas from afar via the email, because we were many kilometers apart across geographical borders.
Earnestly helpful, full of pleasant surprises, supportive, a deep thinker and a FRIEND, that's what Hang Boon stands for. In fact, it is pre-ordained in his name "KHB", which means "Key Help Beacon", as he continues to shine the light for sailors in the treacherous sea of business.
Thus far, Hang Boon and I have conquered many "treacherous mountains and perfect storms" together, without even meeting. His selfless pursuit of a better world for all of us through giving is indeed a noble vision, and I believe he is one man to watch in the Pacific Century.
By the way, if you are wondering about the ending of the story, I survived "The Perfect Storm" in a submerged canoe. And if I can survive, I believe anyone else can. All we need is a little help from our friends, and there are many worthy ones in this "Shi Ying Xiong, Zhong Ying
Xiong" Corner.
Take the plunge, take some risks, do something worthwhile with your life and get inducted into this Heroes corner.
For once, know thyself and the truth will set you free...

Hello,
I don’t often reply to websites, but I did a search on the word sincere and
found yours. I read the story of gracious hearts. I hope to also promote
such a mentality in myself. The story, reminds me of times and with people
that I could have been more gracious. I will do better in the future because
of your efforts. Thank you for the reminder that we are all human and
deserving of god’s love.
regards,
